Claire van Bever is a New York based performer, teacher and choreographer. Originally from Portland, OR she trained at the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre, The Rock School for Dance Education and the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance. Claire started her career with American Repertory Ballet where she had the privilege of performing at City Center and Jacob’s Pillow, and dancing the works of Kirk Peterson, Patrick Corbin and Gerald Arpino. After moving to New York, Claire graduated summa cum laude from The New School with a BA in Liberal Arts and began freelancing in New York. She has danced with The Metropolitan Opera, The Dallas Opera, Jillian Peña, Chamber Music NorthWest, Alice Gosti, Danielle Diniz, MorDance, and Neglia Ballet, and her choreography has been commissioned by Woman in Motion. Claire made her Broadway debut with The Phantom of the Opera after performing with the International Tour of The Phantom of the Opera for two years. Claire this fall is performing in her fourth season with MorDance, while also beginning work on a new film adaption of her piece “The road is still before us, a bright strip of dawn” and performing in “Les Contes Des Hoffman” at the Metropolitan Opera.
